Exclusively for the use of WADAA members, with no day tickets available, Blelham Tarn is an attractive, reed fringed fishery holding mainly pike, perch and roach. The perch and roach can run to a good size but most anglers visit the tarn in search of pike. While these are not numerous, specimens in excess of twenty pounds are present and caught during most years. Because of the surrounding reeds and bog, access is very limited with only three swims available – one on the southern shore adjacent to the boathouse and one on a rocky outcrop on the eastern shore.
Vehicles can be parked just south of the driveway to Wray Castle from where a public footpath on the right leads down to the tarn. To access the outcrop swim requires a longer walk from the public footpath past the entrance to Low Wray campsite.
Overnight fishing is not permitted.
From Ambleside take the A593 Coniston road turning left at Clappersgate on to the B5286 Hawkshead road. After approximately two miles turn left, signed High Wray, and follow this lane to the entrance to Wray Castle. Park on the right a little further down the road.

If you purchased your ticket online via Castbooker, please bring your confirmation email and some form of identification with you when you fish as you may need to show them to a Bailiff (this can be printed or on your phone).
