Stock

The Main Lake is a good example of a balanced ecosystem; our native fish are growing to very good sizes, with Pike just under 30lbs, a number of Carp (Common, Mirror, Linear, Leather and Ghost) up to 40lbs, Tench at just over 10lbs and Roach, Golden Rudd and Perch over 2lbs. These fish have spent their whole lives in the main lake and/or in the breeding ponds nearby.

Silverdale was formed in 1995 by damming one of the springs that feed the main lake, it is 2.5 metres deep in the middle and is used as a breeding pond for our Carp, the pond also has a good stock of Golden Rudd up to a lb and a few Tench. If easy fishing is what you are looking for then silverdale should supply easy fishing with a dozen or so carp caught in a session. Recently some nice 3lb. carp have been caught by the waterfall.

The Carp are rather partial to luncheon meat at about 2 foot depth. Float fish with light tackle and real fun can be had.

The Golden Rudd are locally known as golden nuggets especially if caught in the sunshine. Fish for these with maggot and sweet corn with bread always working.
